We are ROYALS! We already knew this, but the historically charged Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made it plain for everyone to see. The dress was magnificent! Not for its grandeur (the silhouette was quite subdued), but for the strong message it sent in Meghan’s choice of designer to dress her for her unprecedented nuptials. There were so many moments during the ceremony that bucked centuries old traditions of the Royal Family. I was so impressed by the subtle strength of Meghan, now her Royal Highness! Her resolve to be remain true to her identity; from her decision to walk unaccompanied to the church doors, the animated American Episcopalian preacher delivering the Homily, and then to hear the choir singing a melodious rendition to Stand By Me in St. Georges Chapel, signaled a new era that I for one was overjoyed to see!
So, now it’s officially wedding season! Getting dolled up for these happy events shouldn’t be too flustering this year, thanks to Spring’s updated trend mixing prints that clash, and its vibrant update on bold reds, blues, and yellows. (Tip: use the wedding invite as a cue to determine how formal your dress should be). For me, this season’s standout color is yellow, and I can’t seem to get enough of it! I fell in love with this vibrant yellow lace dress the moment I saw it on Asos.com. The silhouette is really flattering, and I love the lace peplum and midi-length of the skirt (another big trend this wedding season).
Toned-down accessories are ideal to complement Spring’s bold wedding trends. If you aren’t the bride, you really don’t want be the center of attention. To keep it interesting, use accessories to add texture and volume to your look. Blush and gold metals are hot this season, and are the perfect polish for formal or semi-formal attire. For less formal affairs, accessories in vibrant colors or floral prints are an out-of-the-box way to incorporate the trend that could land you on the best dressed guest list!
