In my 20’s I thought that to be a style star you had to be uncomfortable. I frequently chose “style” over comfort with sandals that were always an inch higher than I could stand, or outfits too “cute” to enjoy the event for which I was dressed. I even remember thinking that if I wasn’t walking pigeon toed with the balls of my feet on fire at the end of the night, it wasn’t a good night! So thankful for the wisdom (and confidence) gained in my 30’s!
As a busy mom with two boys who keep me on my toes (literally), my personal style has evolved. Whatever I put on my body must be both fashionable AND functional. Easy, breezy silhouettes are on trend this Summer, and have captured my heart for this very reason. My favorites this season are printed (think gingham, summer florals, leafy prints) and have lots of ruffles and movement.
I happened upon this flouncy number on my last shopping excursion, and it’s an easy fave! I chose accessories to give it a dressier look, then headed to Georgetown for tea at Laduree.
After tea, I stopped into the store of the late great Kate Spade, and they were gracious enough to allow me to take a few snaps while I shopped.
